I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. A few weeks ago (before Halloween) I decided on the spur of the moment to visit my friend Wendy in Tulsa. Once I got here, I just...stayed. For one thing, the weather in Oklahoma was (and still is) beautiful, much warmer and nicer than in Spokane this time of year. There were also some fun things going on here that I wanted to be part of: the puppet show Wendy's Young Women were doing for Young Women in Excellence, the Halloween celebrations, and Wendy's bathroom remodel (which doesn't sound like it would be fun, but I love spending other people's money and doing things to their houses that I'd be too scared to do to my own). Besides, Wendy is awesome and I always have a great time with her. She was nice enough to invite me to stay longer, and she hasn't complained too loudly (yet) about me being here all the time. She won't even let me pay her rent!As far as the job search goes (since a few people have asked what my employment status is), technically I'm looking for a job, but I haven't been looking very hard. I applied for two jobs as a telecommunications field engineer, which is what I really want to do. One company told me that they're not hiring right now, but my name will be at the top of their list whenever they start hiring again (which, with the current economic downturn, could be a few weeks or could be a year or more). I haven't heard anything from the other company, but the job I applied for is still open. I'm not sure if that's a good sign or a bad sign. I've decided, at least for the time being, to wait for the right job to open up rather than to take a job I don't really want. Money isn't really a concern at this point. Besides, as long as Wendy lets me continue living with her indefinitely, I may never need to work again! (Just kidding, Wendy. I'm going home in December, I'm pretty sure. Unless it's snowing in Spokane.) Eventually I might get so bored that I have to get a job, any job, but I haven't gotten to that point yet either. For now, I'm just enjoying the free time!
