Libby's birthday

After going to Education Week, I spent the rest of the weekend visiting my family. I'm so glad I got to attend my niece Libby's first birthday party! Usually I miss out on the birthday parties since I don't live where the rest of my family lives.

My little niece spent the first four months of her life in Primary Children's Medical Center, endured two brain surgeries and a heart surgery before she was two months old, and has a shunt in her brain and a pacemaker in her heart. She was so excited to turn one, and I was glad to be there with her! Here are then-and-now pictures of the miracle baby.

And some more happy Libby pictures. Notice the cake spattered on the door!

Here are my other nieces and a nephew: Libby's in the place of honor, and then there's Mackenzie holding Eli, Lainey, and Alexis.

And here I am with Byron and Jemayla. Byron's frowning because I was sticking out my tongue at him (and I hadn't swallowed my food yet...). Sorry Byron.

Okay, she's super cute! I can't believe it has been a year... I remember talking about her right as she was born! I'm glad she is doing good! :)

We were so happy you could celebrate with us! That party will always be memorable in my book. So fun.

Libby and Lainey love their Aunt Heidi!

OK, Libby is definitely qualified to join us for one of our eating extravaganzas - that girl knows what to do with chocolate cake!

I'm really glad things are looking so good for the year ahead, compared to last year. And she is the cutest little thing in her glasses.
