April disappeared!

Wow, what happened to April? I can't believe it's May already. The sun finally came out, which should have given me a clue. Of course, since Spokane is so far north and is only about 40 miles from the Mountain Time Zone, the sun now comes up at 4:45 a.m. and shines directly into my east-facing window, waking me up. I'm not complaining; too much sun is better than no sun. I just have to start remembering to go to bed earlier.

About six weeks ago, one of my coworkers left to take another job elsewhere. His position hasn't been filled yet, so guess who gets all his work? (If you guessed ME, you're right!) The guy who left had a Bachelor's Degree in Finance and an MBA. I'm an engineer. We didn't exactly have the same skill sets. I don't remember ever feeling quite so overwhelmed at work before, at any of my jobs. With my regular engineering work, if I didn't know how to do something I could usually figure it out, or I knew where to go to get answers. But with my new work, my manager will assign me projects and use words like "stochastic method" and "Monte Carlo analysis" and "net present value"...and I can't even figure out what the
words mean, let alone how to go about implementing these concepts.

But it has turned out to be a faith-promoting experience. I finally prayed for help (I don't know why it took me so long), and the next day it felt like I had a little Economics professor sitting on my shoulder walking me through my work. Everything made so much more sense. My manager says I'm "expanding my toolset" and I'm thinking I just should have prayed about it earlier. They're interviewing people to fill the empty position, and believe me, it can't happen soon enough.

So that's why I haven't blogged in so long. When I get home from work I don't even want to go near the computer. I know people are annoyed with me for not emailing them back, but you guys are just going to have to get over it. I also picked up a few new piano students, an organ student, and a math student (tutoring) over the last few months, which has been cutting into my play time. Plus I've been taking some Independent Study courses (work is paying for them) and have to do homework once in a while. I'm not complaining about any of it, though. I like being busy.

I was wondering why you weren't answering emails like you usually do. I'm sorry work is so overwhelming. I'll pray for them to find someone really good and quickly.

Wow you are a busy woman!! Hope they find some one soon so you won't be so overwhelmed any more. Where do you find all these people to tutor and teach?
