Moving

Wow, the junk does seem to pile up! I like to think of myself as a minimalist who doesn't need a lot of "stuff," but as I've been packing to move, I've realized I'm just in denial. Cleaning out closets is the worst--why did I think I needed to keep all this stuff??? I'm still probably keeping too much, but at least the pile is smaller now.

I'm renting a bedroom from a friend across town for a few months before taking another job. (I won't be looking for another job until after Peru.) I'm taking my bed, recliner, a lamp, my electronic piano, too many books (although I did manage to get rid of hundreds of them), and a few boxes for storage (photo albums and things like that). All the rest of my furniture and "stuff" is gone, given to friends or to Goodwill or to the library. It feels so good! I love getting rid of stuff. The challenge now is to avoid accumulating any more crap.

I'm leaving for Idaho today to spend a month with my family--yay! (And I'm not afraid to post my plans online because if anyone wants to rob me and steal my recliner or my boxes of books, I'll laugh.) I'm so excited because I haven't seen my family in almost a year. My Christmas trip was snowed out, and so was the trip I tried to take in April! Darned weather. It better not snow today.

I said goodbye to my ward on Sunday, which was sad. I didn't get to know the adults in my ward as well as the kids (I've been in the Primary Presidency the whole time I lived here) but I'll miss seeing the kids grow up. It was also sad to say goodbye to good friends. I know we'll keep in touch, but it's not the same thing as seeing each other every week. I hate goodbyes. Usually I skip them, but I had church responsibilities on Sunday so I had to go! They still haven't released me, but I'm hoping it happens soon (and so is my 1st Counselor, since the 2nd Counselor is also moving and next week is her last week). I know the kids will be in good hands. Goodbye Shiloh Hills! I loved you guys!

I know your fam will be so excited to see you! It's hard to say goodbye though. That's so cool about you and Elaina!

Just think back to how many books you had in Tulsa!

Congrats on your freedom from pretty much everything. While slightly jealous, I'm also really happy for you to get your mini-sabbatical from real life.

Thanks again for all the things you gave away. It was like Christmas for our family! I'm sad you're gone. You're back one last time for bookclub right? Or not? And where are we holding it this next time?

Don't suppose you happen to know a Suzanne Jones in Spokane. Just wondering. My friends mom.

We will miss you and sorry I didn't get to say bye before you left. When I was playing prelude I was going to give you a hug but you left before I said any thing. Hope you are enjoying yourself and having fun with family and all your other trips you are going on. Good luck trying to find a job after all your fun trips.

Heidi! you have a blog! I found it when I was visiting Amanda's. Lucky me you left a comment and I tracked it back to this. Thank you for all you were willing to give away. I really couldn't believe the stuff we were able to get that would have normally cost us a fortune. So, thank you. It was such a blessing. I'm really hoping you'll be at July's book club. You will be right? We'll miss you, but I know that ultimately this will probably be a lot better for you. Change is good sometimes isn't it? Hope to see you at book club!
